There is also a great bilingual magazine called Hiragana Times. If you really want to get some reading material then, I'd suggest a Japanese newspaper. So one book is grammar, another kanji, and so on. The books are pretty thin and are devoted to one aspect of Japanese. Then there are countless other textbooks for the JLPT. Personally not a fan of either of those books. ![]() Other textbooks are Minna no Nihongo and Yokoso. I have never used the JFZ books and don't know what content is in them, but you could always check out the Genki textbooks, I used them when I was in school.
